Prof Esu commends Prof Ayade for choosing a successor that will ensure continuity

The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ivara Esu has commended the incumbent Governor of the state for choosing a credible successor that will ensure continuity of projects and programs the outgoing administration started. He made the commendation during the presentation of Certificate of Return to candidates that won elections in the state during the just concluded general elections.
The governor-elect of Cross River State, Sen Prince Bassey Edet Otu led other candidates that won elections to the event which was performed by the Cross River State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Gabriel Yomere.
The Deputy Governor advised the incoming governor and his team to be open to advice and listen to people. He also told him to remain focused to the agenda he has mapped out for the development of the state.
The Governor-elect of Cross River State, Sen Prince Bassey Otu first thanked the electorates in the state for making it possible for him to win the election. He gave assurance that his administration will perform well to justify the conference reposed in him.
Prince Otu asserted that the time of the transition is not an easy one. He explained that it is easy to criticize when one is not on the seat of governance. He also pointed out that the presentation of Certificate of Return is a safe birth of a new era in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Prof Gabriel Yomere stated that the occasion marks the end of a second phase of electioneering process that started with the kick off of political parties by INEC chairman, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu.
He affirmed that the presentation of Certificate of Return is a cardinal mandate in the 2022 Electoral Act which stipulates that a candidate is qualified to be a winner only when he is presented with a certificate of return.
The REC thanked those who played vital roles and contributed to the successful conclusion of elections in the state. He advised that a leader need not argue about what he has done for the people, rather he should allow his achievements to speak for him.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the Certificate of Return to all candidates that won at the national and state assembly elections including the deputy governor-elect, Mr Peter Odey.
