As Nigerians filed out to elect who becomes the next president of the country, and National Assembly representatives in the on-going general elections, the Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to extend the time of voting in the elections to enable people in the areas where election materials arrived late to exercise their franchise.

The governor spoke to journalists immediately after casting his vote at Kuru-kpaten polling unit in Gautu ward of Takum Local Government Area.

He noted that it was too early to criticize the BIVAS machine going by the little hitches witnessed at the beginning of the election.

Governor Ishaku was optimistic that he would emerge winner in the Taraba South Senatorial election, asserting that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP would emerge winner in all elective positions, saying, ” Taraba is traditionally PDP State. We hope our people will keep fate. We have also done what we needed to do for them in all ramifications.”

He said that peace had largely returned in the state, assuring that the state would remain peaceful throughout the election period.
