A consultant on Programme Implementation with National Productivity Centre (NPC), Dr. Gbenga Bamiduro has asserted that working smarter pays more than working smart. He made the statement during an interview with newsmen in Abuja during the 2022 Annual Corporate Dinner organized by Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM). Excerpts;
May we know you officially?
My Name is Dr. Gbenga Bamiduro. I work with the National Productivity Center.
What is your take on the award given to you today?
Point of correction, I am not the recipient. I received the award on behalf of the Director General of National Productivity Center, Dr. Kashim Akor who was unavoidably absent.
How do you feel receiving the award on his behalf?
I feel on top of the world to receive the award on his behalf because at the National Productivity Center we give awards to organizations out there, but we don’t have the opportunity of receiving the award because we are the ones who have instituted the award.
So for the Director General to be recognized by Nigeria Institute of Management, I think it’s a good thing. It means that the good work of the National Productivity Center has been recognized.
What is your take on hard work?
Hard work pays. If you listened to what the MC said; he said that the reward for hard work is more work.
If you work hard definitely you will receive a lot of benefits.
But in the National productivity center we don’t say you work hard, we say you work smarter, and if you work smarter you will achieve more rather than working smart.
When we say you worked smarter, you worked with tools; you worked with your intellect and not just physical ability.
So, working hard and working smart has their rewards.
They say see a man who is diligent in his work he will stand before kings and that is what has happened tonight. I was standing before the crowd on behalf of the Director General of National productivity center Dr. Kashim Akor.
Thank you for your time.
You are welcome.
