President General, Chief. Chinedum Ukeka, Umuahia Union, Abuja Branch and his speech on the 2022 Annual General Meeting & Launching of their Empowerment Fund.
It has been over a decade we had such a gathering of sons and daughters of Umuahia origin or married into Umuahia.
At this juncture I would want to crave your indulgence that we observe a minute silence for all our fallen brothers and sisters who have died in the recent past.
The essence of this town hall meeting is for stock taking of our achievements thus far, identify areas of shortcoming(s) and feel the heartbeat of those who elected us into office
We were elected into office about a year ago and we have been able to do the following;
1 visit all the clans at their monthly meeting venues
2 re-invigorate the monthly meeting of the union
3 re-establish financial prudence and proper record keeping
4 set up a sub-committee to review the constitution of the union
5 rejuvenated the annual general meeting/town hall meeting for all indigenes of Umuahia
6 we have done sensitization on a clan by clan basis on the need to establish a group life assurance scheme for all interested members of Umuahia either by birth or marriage
7 we instituted a presidential award and merit award for our deserving sons and daughters who have used their resources and position to impact on the lives of Umuahia indigenes in Abuja for the maiden presidential awards am happy to announce the following recipients;
1 His royal majesty sir Uzo Nwosu MFR.
2 Barrister Sunny Osuagwu
3 High Chief Enyinnaya Emelogu
4 Ebere Williams Nwaeze
5 Macjohn Nwaobiala PHD
6 Mazi Emmanuel Meribole
7 Noble Lady Charity Nwakolam Ohadiuga (KSJ)
8 Lady Comfort Nwaobiala and many more of the Awardee.
We have had our challenges in the course of the year, but we have surmounted some and used some as learning bricks to move the union forward
As we begin the second year of our presidency we are hopeful that you will give us the maximum support with respect to the group life insurance project. All interested members should kindly avail us of their full names and phone numbers. This is a project we hope to deliver by April 2023 by the special grace of god.
We have a lot of our people who have learnt a trade but are challenged with respect to funds today that could serve as a pool of funds to empower such persons. I appeal to all present to support this venture.
My address would be incomplete without appreciating His Royal Majesty Sir Uzo Nwosu for His Tremendous support to our regime. The Chairman of the event, High chief Enyinnaya Emelogu (president general emeritus) and members of my executive for the un-alloyed support they have given me . My special appreciation also goes to my wife Lady Adaku Caroline Ukeka and the children.
