

The Director of Personnel Management Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State Mrs. Comfort A. Makama, has revealed that the youth are ready to help themselves, but need some helping hands from the government, NGO and wealthy individuals. She said this in her office during an award of honour conferred on her by Youth in Nigeria Initiative.
Mrs. Makama who is from Nasarawa State is a social and community leader and is the president of many organizations. She is the president of Daughters of Heels, Akwanga, and the President of Mada Women Association – her Cooperative Society.
Mrs. Makama asks wealthy individuals to help some set of people in the society. The group according to her is made up of the youth, the women, especially the widows. This stems from the fact that she is a widow and knows what widows go through in the society. She pointed out that if good spirited individuals like her can come out to help the vulnerable group, the country will be a good place to stay. Her words; “If we can come out to hear their cry, I believe Nigeria will be a good place to stay”.
The director of personnel Management was full of praise for the governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. A.A. Sule, for his helping hand to the less privileged in the society. She said that the government of the state has been giving five thousand (N5, 000) Naira only to the less privileged every month. She said that the governor also donates things to some orphanages in the state.
On how the youth in the state are faring in terms of what to do to better their lives, she said that the youths of the state are ready to help themselves but need some helping hands from the government and wealthy individuals to be able to stand on their own.
She observed that the touts who are on the streets are there because there is nobody to help them. She posits that if there are people to draw their hands and guide them, then Nigeria will be a better place to be.
She therefore enjoined wealthy individuals to help the government in youth empowerment.
