


Ogoni Libration initiative in collaboration with International Confederation of Food and Agriculture has flagged up a training programme for youths on agricultural entrepreneurship.
The programme which will be training of about 150 Ogoni youths in Turkey in the first batch is meant to equip the youth so that they will become gainfully engaged. They beneficiaries will be able to set agro businesses on completion of the programme.
The programme director, Dr. Douglas Fabeke told news men at the flag up of the programme in Abuja that the programme is going to be for the nine states of Niger Delta but have to begin with Ogoni Youths. He puts it thus; “It is going to be for the nine states of Niger Delta, but we are going to start with the Ogoni people”.
He explained that the training programme which will take place in Turkey will last for some months. He said the training which is solely on agriculture will entail both field and class room intensive training.
He revealed that an international trade center is being built which is commented to the programme. He said that the first batch of training is a kind of training for the trainer.
According to him the trained youths will drive the programme when they complete their training. His words, “They will train all round and come back and make sure we are able to perfect the program at home”.
Dr. Fabeke revealed that he went to Turkey last year to develop the programme. He also said he was part of Amnesty Programmme of Niger Delta Youth.
He assured that the whole agric based training will develop the youth and contribute to the development of Nigeria Economy.
Dr. Clement Ucho was at the event and he commended the efforts of Dr. Fabeke in giving empowerment training to the youth of Ogoni Kingdom. He enjoined other Nigerians of means to emulate the good gesture of Dr. Fabeke.
