Anambra Day 2021 which was initially slated to take place at the M&M Event Center has been taken to the international conference Centre (ICC), Abuja. But the October 23rd, 2012 date of the event remains the same.
Anambra Day is a biannual mini carnival organized by Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA), to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state towns living in Abuja. It has always been an outdoor event until this year.
The 2017 edition was held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. The last edition in 2019, held at the Eagle Square.
This year’s event will be in the form of a symposium where prominent individuals from Anambra State will deliver keynote lectures. The theme is “Taa Bu Gboo”.
During previous editions, participating towns were free to attend with as many people as they deem fit. But in this 2021 edition participating towns can only be represented by 26 persons.
The change of venue from M&M event centre to ICC was due to concerns expressed by many stakeholders. By this change of venue, more people will be allowed to be part of the event, especially spectators, because the ICC has a gallery. The M&M event center only has a ground sitting arrangement unlike the ICC. Also, the security at ICC is tighter than the one at M&M event centre.
