

The outgoing Commandant of the NSCDC, FCT Command, Commandant Mathias Ohieme, alongside the incoming Commandant, Dr Peter Maigari with his entourage paid a visit to the Minister FCT for familiarity.
Commandant Mathias appreciated the minister, the Commissioner of Police and the DSS for their support during his service as the Commandant of FCT, introduced the Incoming Commandant, Dr Peter Samuel Maigari and appealed to the minister to give Commandant Peter his maximum support.
The Minister FCT, Mohammed Musa Bello, on the behalf of his principal officers welcomed the new Commandant to the FCT.
He thanked Commandant Ohiemei for his job well-done, especially in terms of operations and during the covid19 pandemic.
The minister also commended Commandant Ohiemei for cooperating with other security agencies; the Military, the Police and the other para Military; describing the trio as a tripod and the primary organ of security in the FCT.
“If one leg of the tripod is weak or faulty, the entire tripod will collapse”. This he said while emphasising the need for collaboration. He added that, synergy will help make good success and asked Commandant Peter Maigari to build on the firm foundation that his predecessor has laid, by maintaining the relationship between other security agencies.
He also admonished Commandant Peter to go a step further from where commandant Ohieme stopped in checking vandalism by identifying buyers of vandalized items.
Finally, he wished Commandant Mathias well in his future endeavours and welcomed Commandant Maigari to office; assuring him of his maximum support.
Commandant Peter Maigari thanked the Minister for receiving him.
Commandant Peter Maigari agreed with the minister on the issue of collaboration and said he has started establishing relationship with sister agencies and will ensure to maintain it.
He also said he has started working on the issue of vandalism as he has held meetings to that effect and have made arrests already.
He added that he has ask his legal team to try and prosecute the suspects accordingly so that it will serve as a deterrent to other vandals.
Commandant Peter said he has charged the head of Anti vandal and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) to be on of their games so as to bring vandalism in the FCT to book.
He finally thanked the Minister for his support so far and assured him of a safe FCT.
The meeting came to a close after presentation of gifts, signing and a group photograph respectively.
