
Dr. Fabian Okonkwo
Project Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu has been embroiled in some controversies bordering on shady financial transactions allegedly committed by the immediate past DG/CEO of the institute Dr. Charles Agulana. These are in the areas of contract splitting; victimization of staff and many others vices that led to poor performance of the institute in recent time.
This led to invitation of the leadership of the institute by the National Assembly for explanations.
The acting DG/CEO, Dr. Fabian Okonkwo who has been with the institute for quite some time has been able to correct some of the shortcomings of the institute when he was invited to tell the National Assembly how the institute fared in recent time.
As an insider who grew throw ranks in the institute, he has been able to revamp the institute. The institute now has a good relationship between staff and management. Contractors who were owed backlog debt of finished jobs are being paid gradually. Career progression has resumed as promotion examinations have been revived.
All these were the basis for assessment by the Senior Staff Association of Universities Teaching Hospitals, Research institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI) for honoring the acting DG/CEO, Dr. Fabian Okonkwo with the award of excellence for steering the institute out of trying moments.
