The chairman of Garki Model Market, Abuja; Chief Friday Ozochi, has revealed how the management of the market has been working in synergy with NAFDAC in order to rid the market of expired products and counterfeit/substandard products.

Garki Market is the busiest market in the FCT and many people patronize the market.  Some unscrupulous trades used to take advantage of the busy nature of the market to sell expired goods. This unwholesome practice challenged the management of the market to put measures in place to tackle the menace.

The Chairman of the market pointed out that the leadership of the market decided to partner with NAFDAC to stop the unwholesome practice by setting a secret task force to check the unwholesome practice.  They around the market (secretly) looking for expired products or about to expire products and seize them. The products and their owners are handed to NAFDAC officials for necessary punitive measures.

He gave an instance of certain expired product under his custody. “Even as we speak now, there is a particular good that is under my custody with the receipt from the seller. The person did not know that we made such a move in making sure that everything in Garki Model Market is in order”

Chief Friday Ozochi said the expired product and the seller will be handed to NAFDAC for punishment.

In the light of the above, the chairman is appealing to the general public to have confidence in the executives of the market as they will ever protect the interest of their customers by making sure that the market is rid of expired, fake and adulterated products and their sellers.
