I will double my effort in fighting crime – Commander STS (SARS)

The Commander of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) an arm of SARS, DCP Yusuf Kolo has been honoured as the Gallant officer of the year 2020, by a group of media men who are based in Abuja. The award is in recognition of his numerous achievements in the area of crime fighting.

STS was formed on 21st June, 2016, the day IG Solomon Arase bowed out of the Nigerian police Force. DCP Yusuf Kolo, then CSP was appointed as the pioneer commander of the unit. Since the creation of the squad, DCP Kolo and his able lieutenants have achieved numerous high profile arrests ranging from kidnappers to armed robbers.

On resumption of office he ensured that members of his team were well trained in modern techniques of handling crimes. During those periods he has been honoured by the force with two ranks that brought him to his present position as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). As he moves in rank, he makes sure that members of his team are promoted also.

It is the various achievements he and his team have recorded that made him to be recognized and honoured as Gallant of Officer of Nigeria Police Force 2020.

Receiving the award DCP Yusuf Kolo said he was surprised his little effort he has put to the service is being highly appreciated. He pointed out that he has been challenged to do more by the award. He then promised that he will double his effort in the fight against crime and criminality.

DCP Yusuf Kolo hails from Edati Local Government Area of Niger State. He is happily married with children.
