Since DCP Abba Kyari mounted the saddle as the commander, IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Nigeria has recorded huge successes in crime fighting.
DCP Kyari, having worked in various police crime departments and having undergone various training in crime fighting, deployed his wealth of knowledge in the fight of crime when the was mandated to head the inspector general’s intelligence response team (IRT).
He has been able to chart a new course in crime fighting. DCP Kyari makes use of modern technology and traditional gadgets in the course of the challenging task he is heading.
He is an apostle of knowledge acquisition hence; his lieutenants are all up to date in the use of modern crime fighting equipment.
With the use of modern equipment and techniques the team have been accessing hitherto impenetrable zones and arresting hardened criminals with ease.
Since he became the commander of the IGP (IRT) many hardness criminals in various dangerous crimes have been arrested and are facing various degrees of punishment as prescribed by the law. Some have paid the ultimate price (death) while trying to fight back against the highly trained and modern technology users of the IRT.
Some of the major breakthroughs his team have recorded include:
Arrest of Nigeria’s most notorious Kidnap kingpin Billionaire Kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwaumadike Aka Evans in Lagos State and his Gang members;
Arrest of the killers of former Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Air Marshal Alex Badeh ‘rtd’ along Keffi-Gitata Kaduna Road;
Arrest of the most wanted Boko-Haram Commander Umar Abdulmalik and Eight (8) of his Terrorists gang members;
Arrest of Twenty-two (22) Boko-Haram Terrorist gang members responsible for the kidnap of the Chibok School Girls in 2014 and also responsible for series of suicide bombings/several attacks and ambush against Security Agents in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States.
He has able lieutenant in the person of ACP Ahmed Kolo who is the head IGP special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SARS) and the Technical Intelligent Unit (TIU).
As a lover of hard work who carries along members of his team to achieve great fits, over 30 of his team members were promoted including ACP Ahmed Kolo.
