An Abuja based Igbo business man, Chief Austine Okolie, aka Chief Igada has commended the resolve of South-East Governors to set up a regional security outfit. Chief Okolie is a wealthy Igbo man with interest in agriculture, hotel and hospitality, real estate, import and export.
Chief Igada says the move will bring sanity and peace to the entire south-east when it is put in place. He enjoins wealthy
Igbos to support the ideal through donation and provision of security tools.
The South-East Governors have announced that the region establish a regional security outfit to handle security in the region. The name of the outfit would be unveiled later as disclosed the chairman of South-East forum, Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State. He confirmed that the headquarters of the outfit would be in Enugu state.
Chairman of the Forum and Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, also disclosed the idea was conceived before ‘Amotekun’ in the South West, stressing that it would soon get legal backing of the Houses of Assembly in the zone.
Governor Umahi explained that there would be synergy among the security outfits because of the benefits expected from it, especially given the successful implementation of the state’s neighbourhood watch initiative.
An agreement has, however, been reached between the Federal Government and the South-West governors on a legal framework for the establishment of the security outfit.
