The National Publicity Secretary of AREWA Consultative Forum (ACF), Alhaji Muhammadu B. Ibrahim, Dan Masanin Biu, has revealed that AREWA Consultative Forum has points in the north where state chapters meet to discuss matters about states and national fiscal policy.
He made disclosure in Abuja during a stakeholders meeting put together by the Federal Ministry of Finance and Budget Planning.
The Federal Ministry of Finance and Budget Planning gathered representatives of the masses from across the country for their input for the 2020 budget appropriation.
Alhaji Muhammadu B. Ibrahim pointed out that over 60% of the budgets in the past twenty years have gone to personal emolument, salaries and allowances.
He posited that if the country really wants change, or develop the country in order to improve agriculture, industries etc., the country according to him must change the way it allocates resources to capital expenditure.
He therefore concluded that the type of interaction put together by the ministry will be able to harvest opinion from the people, and the ministry will get the feelings of Nigerians and see what they can do to revisit or review the process of budgeting in order to meet expectations of the people.
