Operators of modern car hire services known as CITI Car Hire which operates in the prestigious Transcorp Hiton Hotel Abuja recently elected new executives members to pilot the activities of the association. The new chairman association is Comrade Sola Okanlawon.
Speaking to newsmen after his inauguration the current chairman talked about the activities of the association. The car hire unit of Transcrop Hilton Hotel was founded a year after the hotel started operation some 30 years ago. The chairman says that members of the association are allocated slots by association with approval from the management of the hotel. A member according to him is entitled to many slots as possible provided there is availability of slots.
Okanlawon says that the management of the hotel has been supported of the activities of the association by providing them with a befitting office. He reveals that for the operators of CITI car Services to operate with less on no completion, they now collect money from cabs coming to the hotel. This is to discourage them from vying for passengers with CITI members. At this juncture he disclosed that their major problem has been HUBA operators who operate online.
He believes that every needs the support of his officials of achieve success. On the ground he asks members of the body to cooperate with the new executive so that they can take them to the next level.
Also at the event was the custodian of the Transcorp Cab operations. He was the chairman of the body for five years and was able to put good policies in place that will help the new executive in carrying out their duties. He is Samson E. Solomon, aka Sam-Solo.
In his account, he informed newsmen that the car hire service has been in existence for the past 30 years. A year after the Hotel started business in 1987. Transcorp car hire operators according to him use the best vehicles in town in their business. One can see a hire cab worth over Ten Million Naira, be it the latest Lexus, land Rover, Mercedes Benz, etc.
The association has about 123 members he said and some of them have more than one slot of vehicle. “There is no car in their service that is older than 2009. Each vehicle has a slot and any car that is not registered with the body cannot be used by the owner except the one registered for the slot” he disclosed.
The association has its office on the 1st floor opposite Lagos / Osun hall of Transcorp Hotel Abuja and the name CITI CAR HIRE boldly written all over the glass frontage.
