Glisten Academy, Abuja has emerged winners of the 2016/ 2017, Robotics Competitions which held in Abuja, recently
The School defeated Government Junior secondary school Area 10 and Hillside International School, Gwarimpa, which came second and third respectively.
Glisten Academy would be representing Nigeria at the World Championship in Houston, Texas next Month, while the second and third position would be at other international Robotics Competitions in London and Denmark respectively. The outstanding schools were presented the Logos trophies.
According to Chukwudi Uzochukwu, Coordinator Hope for Africa development international, he said We are partnering with Coderina and Odyssey Educational Foundation to organise this programme which has the potentials of preparing Nigeria for industrialization, because these young Nigerians are the future leaders and if our leaders are Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics inclined, just as we are grooming these ones to be, then our future as a people is brighter than it ever was. We are grateful to Australian Ambassador, Torben Gettermann, who came personally to witness this event and America Embassy for their support in making this event a success.
The Coordinator, First Leg Olives Nigeria, Olajide Ademola Ajayi, said the event is held in 86 countries and winners would compete at the World Championship in Texas, adding that the event was brought to Nigeria by SAP a leading Business Application software providers and since has gotten better with every event.
One of the organizers Stella Uzochukwu, said that they hoped to make it better by engaging more professionals to help in the judging process and involvement of the Government and all relevant agencies. We also hope to have more school get involved.
If all stakeholders were involved we would get funding for the Government schools that won to move to the next round of the competition.
