ESV. Emmanuel Wike, has stated that Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) is advocating that the properties confiscated by the regulatory bodies such as the Economic & Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) & the ICPC should be handed over to the professionals- Estate Surveyors and Valuers (ESV) to manage on behalf of the corporation.

According to him, “We are advising that the properties confiscated by these regulatory bodies should not be left in the hands of un-professionals, because the best and highest use of those properties will not be achieved, rather those properties should be handed over to professionals that can actually take care of them for better usage”.

He, also revealed that the institution has gone ahead and formed an association called “Estate Agency” with the aim of bringing in all practicing Estate Agents who are not professional Estate Surveyors and Valuers into one umbrella where their activities can be controlled and monitored so that at the end of the day it will be a win-win situation for them and the society at large.

ESV. Emmanuel, shared that both the private and public sectors should consult ESV in any property and real estate issues, both valuation, management, feasibility and viability study, agency, etc. whatever that relates estate surveying and valuation because the ESV are professionals and are there to give them the necessary advice and approach they desire.

He made the aforementioned statement during the 46th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), with the theme: “City growth-Issues and Challenges of Urban Sustainability”, ESV. Emmanuel Wike, gallantly won the prestigious seat as the Second Vice President of the institution with a recommendable number of voters.

Amidst receiving encomiums and cheers from people, he ecstatically spoke to our correspondent in an interview on his recent achievement stating, “We had our 46th Annual Conference which started on the 14th of April and today, 16th of April, 2016, happens to be our annual general meeting where decisions concerning the institutions are made. Among the things we did today was to elect new members at the National Council for 2016-2018. During the election, I contested for the post of the second vice-president of the institution, and by the grace of God I won”.

He, also reiterated that his institution plays an advisory role in making housing affordable and convenient for everybody, “Ours is to give the expertise from our professional point of view about housing which I know if the government and the public take it very serious, housing problem will be reduced in this country”, he stated.
