The former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani has suggested that the members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees should resign honorably for disgracing the party at the just concluded general elections. “To avoid PDP being a thing of the past, somebody or a group of persons should take hard decisions and firm measures. If they have not known that themselves, I think they ought to be urged that members of the NWC of PDP should consider it as honorable part to throw in the towel. Secondly, the BOT members of the party should equally consider it as an honorable exit and let others try, if the party must live”, he posited”.

He made the above statement in his country home, Enugu while speaking to newsmen on the last concluded general election. Senator Nnamani saluted the hard work put up by the All Progressive Congress (APC) to defeat PDP, and said that the PDP must give Nigerians an alternative as did the APC. “We must give Nigerians an alternative. That is what the APC has done. Those of us in the PDP should consider it our own duty to make sure we don’t fizzle out. If we don’t change all the faces, chances are that we will have an uphill battle in repositioning the party with same leadership we have today”, he added.

Sen. Nnamani is of the opinion that the failure of the PDP to hold power at the center could be attributed to inability to manage success, complacency, and all kinds of assumptions; answering names in advance – “Game Changer”. “The last primary of PDP can be described as the last straw that broke the camel’s back”, he said.

Continuing, he suggested a way forward for the party. “It is important that PDP has to be reformed, reshaped, and repositioned. People will like to see new faces; credible faces. And it is in the interest of the APC that we have a strong PDP. The country requires a minimum of two strong parties. That will check complacency” he concluded.
