The office of Special Assistant (SA) to President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria is partner with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, to give orientation on ethics and values during a round table interactive forum for partners/collaborators held in Abuja.
Dr. Sarah Jubril, the SA to the president on ethics and values made the intentions of her office known to stakeholders at the forum. According to her, ethics and values cannot be taught in an empty stomach, empty pockets and unskilled hands; hence the resolve of her office to create ethical ways Nigerians can make money. Her office has created avenues partners can access finance at low-interest rate as NGOs. She therefore urged members to register NGOs to be eligible for the loans.
She thanked Nigerians in diaspora who came to be part of the transformation of the nation to a model civilization. She solicited support from every volunteer because, according to her, her office has no direct budget from the government.
Among patriotic Nigerians in the diaspora that attended the forum is Mary Fadipe the founder and CEO of Good Hope Foundation. The Nigerian born American based in Los Angeles, California, who is a member of ‘Ethics beyond boarders and Nigerian Youths in Diaspora’ told our correspondent that her organization is in Nigeria to build modern community center in Abuja which coincided with the interactive forum. The center will equally be built in all the 774 area councils of the nation after the Abuja project is through. The fund to finance the projects will come inform of grant from the United States of America Government. She said that when her organization applies and receives such grant, part of it will be used in the US and other sent to Nigeria for development of the country.
Comrade Obi Obioma Jacob, the founder of Inter Ethnic Married Nigerians, (an umbrella body uniting people who married from their ethnic group) said his NGO will partner with the office of the SA to the president on ethics and values. He said his organization which has visible presence in all the 774 area councils of the federation is a veritable tool to reach the people on the laudable objectives the federal government.
