The senator representing Abia South Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaraibe has promised to embark on basic, sustainable and cost effective development process in the state as well as ensure that, every zone and local government was take care of in the development of the state when he comes to power next year.
He said he was going to provide the needed infrastructure and other stimuli needed by the people of the state to do their business profitably and increase employment opportunities.
The ebullient senator who had been a Deputy-Governor of Abia State and an economist by profession who spoke with this reporter in Abuja also disclosed that, he would provide an enabling environment for the training of Abians to cope with the challenges of participation in the oil and gas industry in the Niger-Delta Region, globalization and other consequences of rapid technological development among others. To improve on the quality of life of his people, he volunteered, there need to be further initiatives in Urban/Rural Water Supply, Transportation, Location, Design, Management and Administration of Markets, Taxi Parks, Business Premises, Health-care Delivery, Security and Business Development which he promised to carry out during his tenure.
Senator Abaraibe also promised to carry out an Agricultural Revolution in Abia State by removing the major constraints of lack of finance, poor management, investing in areas of comparative advantage like palm trees, rubber, cocoa and cashew as well as encourage the use of mechanical implement to increase output.
However Abia State people are still looking for who would revive the golden guinea brewery, modern ceramic industry and the farm settlements, all of them legacies of our hero, Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara.
