Nigerians have urged the Federal Government to set up a social welfare scheme that will be taking care of the problems of orphans, widows, fatherless children and the aged in Nigeria.
This view they expressed at an event where a foundation called “Rock of Ages Empowerment Foundation” gave out various gift items and money to widows from Six (6) States of the Federation in Abuja during the 4th International Widows Day Celebration.
The Nigerians who were lived with anger at government neglect of the suffering masses particularly members of the society in the class of those mentioned above said that, government at all levels should give people a means of livelihood and belonging instead of playing politics with people’s lives and talking of election 2015 when Nigerians are dying every day in penury, pain and heart-break.
Speaking with this reporter, the owner and founder of the Foundation, Evangelist Newman Ezeigbo said that, he set up the foundation due to his own personal life experience, through which he could be helping widows. He disclosed that, beside the gift items and money being given out, the children of those widows were being sent to school free at their expense.
The Foundation gave out different items, equipment and amounts of money ranging from N5, 000 to N20, 000 to the widows.
A sewing machine was given to each of the following: Mrs. Regina Njoku, Ann Chiuckwu, Mrs. Rachael Anozie, Mrs Blessing Nmechia, Mrs. Theresa Bioke and Christiana Igule among others.
N20,000 was given to each of the under-listed widows; Abba Ladi, Ibiwari Waribo, Mary Sunday, Deborah Anzhi, Justine Madare Chinasa Okechukwu, Elizabeth Yowa, Esther Nwachiukwu, Rose Okot, Charity Ugochiukwu, Mrs. Mercy Mathias and Mrs. Ngozi Enukaora 1000 of the widows got a bag of rice and a loaf of bread each, while 200 of them were given N5,000 each.
The widows all prayed to God for Evangelist Newman Ezeigo to live a very long life and for God to enlarge his coast and bless him and his foundation more and more.
