The Christian Ministers’ Welfare Initiatives (aka M. O. G.) has organized a National Prayer Rain for Peace and Award ceremony of Ambassadors for Peace. The prayer session of the event was meant to ask the Creator to intercede in the problems tormenting the country in form of terrorism. The other part of the event was recognition and award of ambassadors for peace to deserving Nigerians.
During the prayer session many men and women of God took turn to prayer for Nigeria and her citizens on various prayer points; Safety of the country, Unity of the country, Release of Chibok Girls, Free and Fair election etc. The founder of M. O. G., Apostle Daniel Aderemi Adebiyi talked about the need for peace in the country that necessitated the program at this time of the year. He pointed out that those selected for award have impacted on the society positively.
One of the beneficiaries of the award, the founder Divine Precious Women Star Development Organization, (DPWSDO) Evang. Evelyn Omawumi Oluwafemi was chosen because of humanitarian services through her NGO. Her organization has impacted the society on skill acquisition thus; one hundred and ninety two (192) persons in fashion design; one hundred and nine (109) persons in hair dressing; ninety nine (99) persons in computer operations, and eighty (80) persons in cake making.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, Evang. Oluwafemi said the award has challenged her to do more in her effort to put smiles on faces of Nigerians. She dedicated the award to her husband who is solidly behind in the endeavor. She prayed for the victims of yesterday bomb blast and asked God to comfort their families.
Another prominent Nigerian that was honoured at the occasion is Chief (Mrs.) Remi Adiukwu, a business woman and philanthropist who believes in the oneness of the country. She said her strong believe in unity of the country made her a Yoruba woman to marry an Igbo man. She dedicated her award to her late husband who she described as the pillar behind her success even now that he is no more. She noted that there are some elements that pay terrorists to kill and even more when they kill more people. She blamed the tendency to engage in killing on greed for material things. She then enjoined Nigerian to pray fervently to God to cleanse the nation.
