Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI has presented stakeholder in solid mineral industries with audit templateduring a workshop held in Abuja.
According to the NEITI Executive Secretary, Zainab Ahmed, the objective of the workshop was to discuss with companies and government entities that would be covered by the audit on the template, that is the poll, that the audit process would use to collect data to cover the entities. She said that the presentation of the template was to enable NEITI get the input and views on how to serve the companies and the government agencies better during the audit,
She pointed out, “During the workshop we showed them the template we have designed, we collect their input on how to make it better and we go back and adjust the template, then we use the template to collect data from the companies and government entities for the audit purpose”
The Executive Secretary assured the companies that NEITI would treat the data collected from them with utmost confidentiality saying that It would not use the data to jeopardize their business interest in any way that would place them in competitive disadvantage noting that NEITI would always sign confidential agreement with the companies and government agencies covered in the audit.
