This year’s edition of Concept Sports Academy’s (COSA) yearly football competition officially kicked off on 4th June, 2014 at the Lugbe International Pitch, Abuja. The competition is for age group football clubs in Abuja and environs. 20 teams are taking part in this year’s event.
COSA is an international academy is registered in Nigeria and United Kingdom. The headquarters is at Ekwulobia Anambra State and it has a branch in Abuja, which is organizing the ongoing competition.
Speaking to newsmen at the ceremony, the founder and CEO of COSA, Dr. Amb. Marcel Ezenwoye told newsmen that the idea behind the formation of the academy was to take young people off the streets by engaging them in sporting activities. He said that the curriculum of the academy is a mixture sporting education and classroom learning, the first of its kind in Nigeria. COSA according to him is in partnership with foreign football clubs, especially Azerbaijan, who have given him mandate to nurture talents for the clubs. He showed some visas for some of the students of the academy who will travel out immediately after the tournament is over.
The organizers have mouthwatering prices for winners at the competition. Dr. Ezenwoye said the winner of the competition will go home with three hundred thousand naira. The first runner up will get two hundred thousand naira and the 3rd place winner will get one hundred thousand naira.
The grand finale which was slated for 9th June will now take place after the world cup tournament about to start in Brazil.
