By Kennedy Dimaku, Abuja:
The All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate In Kano Municipal Area Council Mukhtar Ishak Yakasai has promised to pay priority attention to education if elected.
The party chieftain who made this promise shortly after casting his vote in the just concluded local council poll in the state also noted that an educated society is synonymous to purified society. He added that education is the only potent instrument to solving the people’s problem. He pointed out that Dr. Rabiu Musar Kwankwaso government has touched the lives of the people in every sector of the state economy.
He commended the conduct of the election describing it as free, fair and credible local government election. “The election was transparent, free and fair. Election materials were on ground as well as election personnel, and the electorates were also there to perform their civic responsibility.”
Yakasai equally debunked the insinuation that he was a new comer in political landscape of Kano State. He explained that before now, he was a former chairman of PDP in Kano Municipal Local government, a one-time publicity secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He was a former treasurer, North West Zone of PDP which comprises of seven states of Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Jigawa, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi.
Yakasai performed creditable well in all these responsibilities which made his people to beckon on him to come and lead them at the grassroots level as the chairman.
He noted he is happy moving from PDP to All Progressive Congress. “We are in PDP before and we all moved to APC. As I am talking to you now, there is no more PDP in Kano State. Kano State is APC. I am much confortable to be in APC because it is a more transparent party.
“It is the party that will bring peace and justice to the country. And it is the party that will liberate the country from shackles of sensationalism that is bedeviling the country. The country is full of insecurity, corruption in high places and lack of direction in leadership. APC can produce a credible leader that will champion the course of this country.” He concluded.
