Former Commissioner of Women development in Taraba State, Mrs. Charity Green, told newsmen in Abuja that when people work hard they might not know that other people are observing what they do. She said that such diligence attract recognitions like awards from credible institutions like Press Gallery. She made this statement at the fifth Press Gallery Annual Award which took place in Abuja. She enjoined Nigerians to keep on working hard because they would sooner or later be recognized and rewarded.
Press Gallery Award is an annual event being organized by Press Gallery Organization, publishers of Press Gallery Newspaper. The Publisher, Mallam Mustapha, a veteran in the industry and a promoter of investigative journalism. The Award is one of the most credible awards being organized by an Abuja based media house. Recipients of this year’s award were drawn from every stratum of the Nigerian society and beyond.
As it is the tradition of the organizers of the event, some expatriates and a physically challenged legal practitioner by name Sani Moyi (Esq.), were honoured because of their remarkable contributions to the society. The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, was honoured because of his selfless services to residents of FCT. He was represented at the ceremony by the Chairman of NUJ, FCT council, Comrade Chuks Ehirim. Hon. Emma Bello was awarded the best commissioner of Information in the country because of the role he played during the absence of the Governor of Taraba State when the later had plane crash, last year.
The occasion was well attended as most of the awardees were present at the event.
