Sherif Shagaya, the Managing Director of KASHTON CONCEPT Nig. Ltd, told newsmen at Kwara PDP stakeholders meeting in Abuja that Kwara youths need empowerment and not to be used as political thug. Kwara PDP members from all walks of life converged on Abuja to discuss ways of liberating the State from Saraki dynasty which has controlled the affairs of the State for over three decades. It is no longer news that former Governor of the State, Senator Bukola Saraki and his cronies including the State governor has defected to APC, and has been working hard to drag the whole to APC.
As a major stakeholder in the fight to liberate Kwarans, especially the youths, Sherif Shagaya said the meeting was a gathering of progressive aimed at creating a new leadership in the State. He opined that the youths need to be empowered to be able to take care of themselves and their parents at old age. He said he is out to contribute to youth development in the state.
On his ambition to go for House of Representatives in next election, he said his priority now is to help youths to be part of the transformation going on in the state, thereafter he could go to the house if his people support him. Sherif Shagaya is married to one of the daughters of Bamanga Tukur, the immediate past chairman of PDP, and people have been insinuating that his father in-law gave him the go ahead, which he said was not true. He told newsmen that he has come of age and knows when to go for an elective position in his state.
The Director of Youth wing of PDP in Kwara State, Prince Haliru Dantsoho told newsmen at the event that Kwarans have resolved to pullout of the old order. He said is happy to be part of the team that are working hard to liberate the state from the dictatorship of Sen. Bukola Saraki. He pointed out that Baba Saraki was not autocratic in his days and that was why he was able to lead the state for such a long time. He said there was no going back with the decision to stop Sen. Saraki from usurping the state.
The event was chaired by Solomon Edoja, the caretaker committee chairman drafted by PDP to reorganize the party in Kwara State. The meeting was attended by notable individuals from the state, among who are, Hajia Bola Shagaya, Prof. Oba, Dr. Sarah Jubril etc.
