Child Right Brigade (CRIB) has gathered and extended educational and other gift items to less privileged children in Abuja. The event took place on 24th December 2013 at MOPOL Playing Ground Nyanya, FCT. CRIB is an NGO with the mandate to reach out to less privileged children with educational and basic need items. Items distributed to the children at the outreach were; exercise books, biros, shirts, skirts, pants and ten water dispensers for a few families. Over 125 children received different gift materials. Beneficiaries came from far and wide to be part of the gift sharing. The areas include; Zuba, Madalla, Mararaba, Jikwoyi, Karu, Gwagalape etc.

Speaking to our correspondent at the occasion, the Head of Operations of CRIB, Mr. Archibong Anderson, said the event was organized in partnership with National Commission For Refugees, Migrant and Displaced Persons which is under the Presidency and that the Commission provided all the gift items given out at the outreach. CRIB is a medium through which aids from the rich can get to the less privileged in the society. Mr. Anderson revealed that CRIB crew has a very big concern for children in the country.

Mr. Anderson, who is also the General Secretary of NACCRAN, explained the criteria under which beneficiaries were selected. According to him, orphans and children whose parents cannot afford three-square-meal were the major beneficiaries at the outreach. He told our reporter that CRIB has credible enumerators who make sure that only deserving children benefit from CRIB programmes. He said that his organization’s outreach was not regular due to lark materials to give out. CRIB will be going from house to house in the highbrow areas of Asokoro, Garki, Maitama etc., asking rich people to provide for the poor in the society; this Mr. Anderson said would begin next year.

CRIB has been partnering with notable international organizations in their effort to achieve their mandate.  The following are some the partners of CRIB, over the years; UNICEF, ILO, Child Protection Network etc.

A beneficiary, Mrs. Chika Bassy Ene was happy to be part of the outreach. She thanked the team of CRIB officials that chose Nyanya for the outreach. She therefore asked wealthy Nigerians to partner with CRIB to reach out to more people in their subsequent outings.
