An indigene of Benue State, Mr. Timothy Iyornyagh Ugbaa has written books on great Northern Rulers. They are; “GREAT RULERS OF NORTHERN NIGERIA: A Compilation of the Lives & Times of Great Traditional Rulers of Northern Nigeria and the Historical Evolution of their Institutions” Volumes 1-4, and “GREAT UNFORGETABLE LEADERS OF NORTHERN NIGERIA”, Volume 1. The two sets of books were compilations of the times and works of traditional rulers of the nineteen Northern States of Nigeria. No great traditional ruler from the region during the time of the work was overlooked.

The launch attracted representatives from every Northern State as each was represented by at least one great traditional ruler in the compilations. Traditional rulers discussed in the books were those that led the North before the time of Ahmadu Bello, the Sarduana of Sokoto, to traditional rulers of the region in contemporary time.

The author, Timothy Ugbaa, told newsmen that it took him eight good years to finish work on the five volumes so far released for public consumption. He is a product of polygamous family and story has it that his father stood for the inclusion of Tiv land in the region. The father was hated at home for his stand which eventually paid off and everybody from the Benue State is better for it.

The President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was represented at the occasion by the Minister of FCT, Sen. Bala Mohammed. He was full of praises for the author for the beautiful compilation. He pointed out that the visionary leadership of great Northern Leaders made it possible for the North to form alliance with other parts of the country that gave birth to present day Nigeria.

The book launch attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, such as Prof. Jubril Aminu, IG Ibrahim Coomasie(Rtd) amongst numerous others.
