The Nigeria Institute of Advanced legal Studies (NAILS) has successfully conducted the 2013 Dr. Felix Okoye Memorial Lecture. The topic for the lecture is,” Actualizing Contemporary International Law as the Universal Law of All Nations: An African Perspective”.
The event organized by NAILS lived up to its billing as big names in the legal profession made sure the objective of the lecture was achieved. Keynote address was presented by former minister of information Dr. Walter Ofonagoro. He went memory lane to inform the audience about the life and time of a great Nigerian, Dr. Felix Chuks Okoye who excelled in the legal, and aviation and business sectors of Nigerian economy.
He made the audience to know that Late Dr. Okoye was among the pioneer private airline operators in the country when he purchased and registered an airplane shortly after he came back to Nigeria from oversees.
The main lecture came after the citation of the presenter by Ms. Emma Muoneke. Hon. Judge Abdul Koroma, the lecturer of the lecture has an intimidating credential worthy of emulation. He is currently a member of International Court of Justice, The Hague. He presented a masterpiece of a lecture that his contemporaries at the event him throughout. There were telling their catchy audiences their own story about the lecturer while the lecturer was busy with his delivery.
The ovation that followed the wonderful lecture did not give room for questions and comments as it was believed that there was nothing to add or remove from the lecture.
Prof. Dakas C.J. Dakas SAN, Director of Research, NAILS gave a brief vote of thanks before the compere, Mr. Benjamin Ubiri brought the event to an end with Muslim prayer and National Anthem.
Dignitaries at the occasion include; former Chief Justice of the federation, Justice Mohammed Uwais, Former Minister of information Chukwuemeka Chikelu, and many other dignitaries.
